1) One of the reasons our Mobility Specialist regard this job as one of the most rewarding experiences they have ever had is due to effect power mobility equipment has on the quality of life for our clients. Many have been trapped in a body that no longer allows them the mobility to get around their homes, let alone to shop, see family or attend church. Once they get their new power wheelchair the outside world is opened back up to them and their quality of life immediately improves. It is not uncommon for our patients (and our mobility specialist) to shed “tears of joy”, at the diffence this equipment makes in a persons life. We regularly receive cards of thanks, home baked cookies and cakes, flowers and chocolates from our patients.
It is such a personal connection that takes place that many of our clients become friends who stop by when they are near, just to chat. It has only been in the past 5 – 6 years that technology has chaged the face of power mobility devices and the technology continues to grow which promises an even greater impact on our client’s quality of life now and in the future.
